Public schools like Community Health Academy of the Heights has been implementing it for a couple of years now, Yondr Pouches, in order to prevent distractions from students pulling out their phones during classes.
CHAH utilizes Yondr Pouches to mitigate distractions among students, such as texting during class and use of social media like TikTok and Instagram. Distractions like these may affect students’ grades. According to this information this will affect students during lessons. An 11th grade student, Fani Martinez explained their opinion about school Yondr Pouches. “I feel like Yondr Pouches are unnecessary…we are wasting money on them; we should be wasting them on better equipment,” Martinez said. Martinez thinks school Yondr Pouches are a waste of money, and should be used for things such as pencils, papers, and school programs. Another 11th grade student, Yaotbalan Martinez said “Um, I mean they’re okay…I don’t really use my phone for anything.” This establishes that some students don’t really mind the Yondr Pouches. I could definitely understand both sides. Some students however can claim they won’t use their phone and use it anyway. I feel as though you guys should have gotten freshmen opinion, since their phones most likely weren’t confiscated in middle school.

In my opinion, Yondr pouches are pointless. Many students wouldn’t even use their phones during class (myself being one) and even if everyone wanted to constantly be on their phones, you could just implement a ‘phone jail’, where if a student is caught using their phone in class it will be put in a box for the rest of the class.

Yes, I agree. That’s what they do in BRHS.
