I interviewed Mya, an 11th grade student navigating a demanding academic schedule. We talked about a lot of different things but one that stood out to me was her quiet resilience when facing the daily pressure of a heavy workload. My angle for this profile will be Mya’s mindset of “just keeping going” and how she balances the intense demands of school with her personal interests to stay motivated.
Mya is an 11th grade student who was surprised to find her school schedule packed with several AP classes. Throughout the year she has been working hard to keep up with the heavy workload that comes with these advanced subjects. Everyday she manages a lot of tough assignments that require much of her time and focus. Instead of getting discouraged she is finding new ways to handle the pressure of these high level topics. She is proving that she can manage and push through this challenging school year.
When Mya is not working on school projects she tries to find time for herself. She likes to watch movies ,listen to music and spend time with her friends. “When i am with my friends I can finally stop worrying about everything for a little bit” Mya explains. She uses these times to step away from her schoolwork and enjoy her time.
The biggest challenge for Mya this year has been managing the sheer amount of work that comes with her AP classes. There are days when she has several big assignments due at once which makes it hard to keep her head above water. However she has learned how to stay organized and push through the most difficult weeks. One of her biggest achievements was getting through the most difficult grading periods. She stays desiccated even when she feels tired knowing that she has to keep moving forward to meet her responsibilities.
Looking toward the future Mya has plans to continue her education. She wants to go to college because she knows it will lead to better opportunities. She plans to reach these goals by staying focused on her grades and continuing to build the strong work habits she learned this year. She believes that the effort she is putting in now will help her succeed in whatever she chooses to do next.
“I think the most important thing is to just keep going.” Mya says “I just remind myself that it is only for a year and I have to get it done. I’m looking forward to finishing and I know that ill be okay.”

I loved how she described how she would have many AP important classes and would push through the hard times and keep going. She would also find a time to hang out with friends which I think is important to do I love how she looks forward to the future and has confidence in herself.

This article has lots of great metaphors and vocabulary. I love the way the author showed the difficulties and solutions to having a chill life as an AP student.
