There are barely any differences between the original and the live action, making How to Train your Dragon -live action- an extraordinary movie: Personally, I think the movie was both exciting and emotional because of all the well filmed scenes with the amazing CGI and the astonishing acting.
A major reason I think this is because in the main characters -Hiccup- and his dragons last fight scene, the tension created by the powerful CGI made me go to the edge of my seat! The scene shows a flying Hiccup on his dragon with a plan to shoot fire into the mouth of the mother dragon to defeat it. The mother dragon rules the other dragons through fear making the reason for this big fight a revolution. The danger presented with the music made the pressure build and create one of the most exhilarating scenes in the movie.
Specifically in the scene where Hiccup is trying to compete against the other trapped dragons and Toothless – his dragon – comes to rescue him, the way the actors emotions are portrayed made it seem like it was one of the last scenes of Hiccup. When his dad was trying to “protect” Hiccup, I could feel the tears coming! Hiccup is forced by his father to fight dragons to prove his worth as a viking, but instead of killing them, he befriends them and tries to understand them. After he had tamed the other dragons, his father gave him a helmet as a reward, but then Toothless’ appearance was revealed and Hiccup’s father tried to protect him, causing more harm and distrust between their relationship.
This movie made me think about the original movie since there weren’t many differences. Although the first movie was animated, the live action had such good CGI that it seemed like it was 3D! The dragons animations were surreal and the way they moved and reacted to danger looked so real and similar to the original. The only difference I could find was that one is animated and the other is not.
Other people should definitely watch this exceptional movie! Not only for the scenes but for the amazing actors. This is how all live action movies should be made.
