The evening of Tuesday, February 17th, 2026 through Thursday, March 19th, 2026. Those were the dates of Ramadan this year. Mr. Tusher, the assistant principal of CHAH, has been fasting for more than 30 years
“I believe everybody’s supposed to start [fasting] around when they hit puberty,” says Mr. Tusher. “I think I know a lot of kids like my cousins and stuff they started when they were much younger like around seven or eight because they want to feel like they’re part of a community and they want to do it with their older cousins and their parents and uncles and aunts. I don’t remember what age I started, but probably around 13 or 14.”
There are plenty of teachers that celebrate Ramadan. Another well known one is Ms. Purisic, the 10th grade chemistry teacher.
“My son started fasting at 10 now and fast for a couple of days,” Ms. P said. “But in our culture if you’re younger you fast like till noon.”
Anwar Ahmed, a sixth grader at CHAH who celebrates Ramadan states, “God makes us fast because the people don’t have money, they don’t have water, we want to know how do you feel?”
This shows the way Muslims celebrate Ramadan in CHAH. If you have any questions write it in the comment section below.
