“Having a plan for your money can help you a lot in the future,” said Brittany, who has worked in the restaurant business and is currently planning on getting back in school whilst working. As someone who once had to go from school to work, she has become more and more experienced at having to save money in order to provide not just for herself, but also for her loved ones such as close friends & family. “It becomes a lot easier once you set a budget for yourself,” Brittany said.
Saving money can be something that is hard at first, especially when you’re in the mindset of wanting to buy a whole bunch of things for yourself. But once you have to start paying for certain payments such as rent or school, it then becomes a priority that you save the money you have and try to at least create a budget for yourself so you don’t get in the habit of spending your next paycheck all at once. Brittany said, “be smart about your money, don’t spend it too fast or you won’t have much to save at all.”
One thing to note is there are different methods of saving money. Paying off debts is something that should be done almost immediately, for it can affect how you would want to use your money later on. Cancelling unnecessary subscriptions to a certain app or website is also good, as it can reduce having to pay a bill every other month and you won’t have to worry about losing money over something you don’t even want/use. Also, calling your providers to lower any plans can be a major boost as monthly bills will reduce majorly if a better deal is negotiated. “I try to keep a well-balanced budget so that I don’t have to worry about spending too much money in the future,” Brittany said.
Once you set a well balanced budget, you can afford to pay off payments and buy a bare-minimum of the things that you want. Brittany uses this to her advantage by providing for herself and loved ones, with food, products, clothes, etc. Learning the many different ways to save money shows that you can have money on the side for important things and you can have money on the side for fun as well. “Once you give yourself a budget, then you’re all set,” Brittany said.
