There’s a parent started program called the PTA. The PTA started the school store for kids to buy their preferred snacks if they don’t want to eat what the cafeteria serves.
The school store sells a variety of snacks including chips, drinks and candy. A few students as well as the Principal, assistant principal, and paraprofessionals were interviewed for this certain piece,
The PTA and starters of the school store have worked long and hard on it. Leonor the treasurer states, “We keep the money in the bank and use it for donations.” Maria, a mother that helps in the PTA but isn’t quite part of it, states, “We donated to students and they asked for most of these since they can’t go out.”
All this wouldn’t be possible without the permission of the principal, Mr. Falciani, and the paraprofessional Ms. Damas.
The principal Mr. Falciani said, “I thought it was a great idea, I think students should get their food choice.” Ms. Damas agrees. She states, “It was a good idea especially for students that don’t like school food.”
Mr. Falciani states, “The money from the snacks they buy help for certain things like festivals, and it goes to different organizations and programs.”
Ms. Damas also agrees that the money from the students helps the school out a lot. ”They like earning money for the school. They need it for events, sports and it supports parents who need it,” Damas said.
Ms. Zaiter, a new assistant principal in CHAH, had her own opinions on the school store.
“I love that parents are involved in our community and help us raise money to give to students,” Ms. Zaiter said.
The students in the school also like the school store a lot.
Smil Ramos Dominguez, a 7th grader, states, “I like that we have more choices and my favorite snacks are the gummies and takis. What I don’t like is there’s no more pastelitos and the pricing is high.”
Liancel Caceres Disla, another 7th grader agrees with Smil, he states, “I like all the snacks and to eat it but I think there should be more real food, like pastelitos,”
Be sure to check out the school store during lunch.
