Dear new student,
Welcome to Community Health Academy of the Heights, or CHAH. In this school, you will find very passionate, expressive, and kind-hearted students and staff. We are all loving in our own way and very intelligent. This is your pamphlet for your expectations, uniform, and clubs. The newspaper club interviewed Ms. Zaiter, one of our assistant principals. We asked her what she expects from new students. She said she expects them to come in with an open mind for learning, for them to come in uniform, and to try to come early.
The school uniform is a burgundy polo shirt, black pants, and a sweater that is black with no logo. We also have what we like to call “dress down days,” where the school encourages kids to come in a certain theme as a fundraiser for 2 dollars.
Class here at CHAH starts at 8. If you are late for school or class, you will get detention and be sent to the safe room. You will also get this punishment if you are not wearing the uniform.
Specials and gym: if you are in 6th grade, you will cycle through three specials, music, art, or dance, and then get to pick what you like in the second semester of seventh grade. The three teachers are Mr. Cawley, the music teacher; Ms. Jacobson, the dance teacher; and Ms. MacKnight, the art teacher. You will switch from one day having specials and the other having gym.
Advisory: In CHAH, you will have an advisory at the end of the day. It is a period to relax, check your grades, and catch up with your teachers .
Once again, I hope you have a wonderful time at this school and get all you expected from it on behalf of the Newspaper club, and I hope you enjoy your time here.
Sincerely,
Noah Ledesma

Noah, excellent job giving new students a guide to CHAH! You open with a great lead describing the school’s vibe, then follow with important details like start time, specials and advisory period. The interview with Ms. Zaiter provides the story with expert info.

Noah, I enjoyed reading your New Student Guide to CHAH. You provided necessary information so new students know what to expect to have a smooth transition into our community. Current students could use a reminder too! Ha-ha.
