We have a new parent coordinator! A parent coordinator is the person that talks to the parents of the students about what is happening in the school. You can find her office on the first floor in the main office. Her name is Ms. Diaz. We did an interview on her. Here is our interview.
Q:Can you please state your name and your role at CHAH?
A:My name is Josmeidy Diaz, and I’m the parent coordinator.
Q:Why did you choose this role at CHAH?
A: Well, I’m very passionate about the students and their academic performance, and I believe contacting and establishing good rapport with the parents will definitely help with that.
Q: Why did you choose to work here and not at another school?
A:Well, I have two students here, and I like the community around here.
Q:What’s the hardest part of your job?
A:The hardest part of my job would be… There are a lot of things that come up, you know, like emergencies or you have a meeting schedule and then you need to attend to something, like a surprise situation, an emergency. Yeah, I would say that. It’s a lot going on.
Q:Have you worked a similar job?
A: No, not in school
Q:Do you ever get nervous when talking to the parents?
A:No, I do not.
Q:What’s the easiest part of your job?
A:The easiest part of my job is that I love what I do, so that will make it easy. So, yeah, talking to parents, meetings, talking to students. Yeah, I’m passionate about it, so that will make it easy.
Q:What do you define as a parent coordinator?
A:What do I define?
Q:What is a parent coordinator to you?
A:Oh, it’s like the bridge between the parents and the teachers, the school staff mainly, the principal. So I’m like that person in between to make things easier and communicate everything that’s happening here at school to the parents and communicate what parents want. To happen here at school, I’ll communicate it to the school staff.
I hope you all meet this wonderful woman and learn more about her.

Great questions make for a great interview. I did not know what a parent coordinator did until I read this story.
